Introduction

I am a professor of biomedical informatics at Faculty of Computing and Information Technology and the IT director of King Abdulaziz University Hospital. I received a B.C. from the Department of Computer Science & Technology, Tibah University in 2006. Before completing my graduate studies, I spent a year and half working as a teacher assistance in King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia , and one six months as CISCO network instructor in the IT department in the same university. After that, I received M.S from the Department of Computer Science, University of Colorado at Boulder in 2010. My MS comprehensive exam was about software engineering problems within bioinformatics community.  In 2015, I received PhD. from the Department of Computer Science, University of Colorado at Boulder, and my thesis was on utilizing big data using semantic integration to identify significant drug-drug interaction using statistical machine learning model. My research interested, which I am doing at KAUST, is in semantic integration and interoperability, personalized medicine, and studying the importance of technologies in improving healthcare.
